MAR 4, 2023: There was a little bit of everything this morning – gathering of the faithful, prayer, personal reflection, fellowship and food, and the presence of priests, nuns and the Archbishop. All this amid God’s serene creation at the Lake Gardens in Kuala Lumpur.
It was the Lenten recollection attended by almost 300 Catholics from parishes in Petaling Jaya, Kuala Lumpur and Seremban. The event was organised by the Creation Justice Commission of the Archdiocese of Kuala Lumpur headed by Rev Fr Andrew Manickam OFM Cap.

It was a time to reflect on the role and responsibility that each Catholic had, not just in working towards personal spiritual growth, but also in ensuring stronger participation in the building the faith community. All this while having a little fellowship, food and fun in the midst of greenery.
Once the opening prayer, briefing and groupings were done, pockets of believers could be seen in different parts of the 91ha area in the middle of the city. KL Archbishop Julian Leow went on a walkabout, meeting and greeting his sheep that were scattered everywhere, and posing for photos.
There was a group saying the rosary by the big lake, several groups having fellowships under the pondoks and at the little café. There were also individuals spending quiet time on the wooden benches scattered around the park.
There was something different about doing all this in public, with children playing, a group of friends celebrating someone’s birthday, young and old exercising, college groups having their activities, couples walking around the lake, and with bridal photoshoots going on.
